Experimental indie-rockers Minus the Bear are the latest Seattle export to be unleashed on the rest of America. Formed
in 2001, the band is comprised of singer/guitarist Jake Snider, guitarist David
Knudson, Keyboardist Alex Rose, Bassist Cory Murchy, and drummer Erin Tate.
Their blend of soothing melodies and shifting time-signatures has given them a
wide and diverse fan-base. As Murchy explains, "We don't follow a
particular scene or genre and hopefully that shows." The band’s 2007 album
Planet of Ice is their latest on
Suicide Squeeze records..
Before joining Minus the Bear in 2001, singer/guitarist Jake
Snider was a member of Sharks Keep Moving and State Route 522. He also
occasionally contributes to side project Onalaska with current Minus the Bear
members Erin Tate and Cory Murchy.
